If the most frightening of all things is fear itself, is there actually
anything to be afraid of?
The Stained Handkerchief is an ongoing series of film- and videoprogrammes
reflecting on the relation between anxiety, abjection and pleasure. Thefirst
two
nights at Duende bring together a selection of experimentalshort films,
artists'
videos and horror movies.These works explore the domesticity of fear, the
latent
drama of boyhood,the societal marking of the female Other and the compulsive
nature of sensation, lust and desire. Distinct memories, haunted fantasies
and the
significance of blood, milk, spit and sperm collide on the cinema screen,
taking the
viewer into the terrain of profound ruptures that is called the human
subject.
